Maybe my Google-Fu is rusty but I have had trouble finding any numbers that will allow me to bring the Ford GT down to my imaginary level of unworthiness. Thankfully, Road and Track — aka Car and Driver for people that hear the word “broker” and think you mean the career rather than the state of survival — has instrumented testing this issue!

Base price of $453,750 .

0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds .

1/4 mile in 11.1 seconds @ 130 mph .

Curb weight of 3,250 lbs

Power to weight ratio of 5 lb/hp (with an aim for 2.2 lb/hp).

Cargo capacity of 0.4 cubic ft!!!!

I still say Ford would be fine if they just did two years of production and only built 500 cars. Then it would be like the LFA where the specialty of the car eventually surpasses any “performance value” arguments. Ferrari and Porsche understand that having people angry they didn’t get a car keeps the things valuable. Ford gave in and is now placing the car and owners at serious risk.

Ford, you may want to consider allowing owners to sell these cars and make some serious cash and build up the market so that you can do this again in the future.

It’s 1 mile per hour slower than the P1.

It will be interesting to see a test done at or near sea level, as this test was done at the press event at 4320 ft of elevation. Imagine the numbers will be a bit quicker, though the reviewer mentioned the launch control is not the best.

Depends on the driver, but here’s the Goodwood times to assess it against the competition.

I think Ford is right on the line to having the fastest lapping production car ever. I’m even placing it ahead of the ACR, Performante, GT2 RS, and upcoming ZR1 when it comes to lap times. I’m just upset because I’m worried Ford is throwing away massive amounts of brand equity for their Ford Performance subbrand simply by adding two years to the production.

These GTs aren’t going to depreciate or anything but man, Ford Performance could have been considered a Porsche level fighter without argument. AMG is making that move and they are going to get it. Ford is underestimating how much they have to gain from one decision.

“Precision beats power, and timing beats speed.” Ford is messing with timing and I hate seeing a needless risk when there is so much potential for a brand that has lately been on a roll for longer than butter. Especially the “good kid” out of the American brands.

Thanks for that! I’m excited to get some circuit times for this car, I think it won’t disappoint.

Elaborate on what “brand equity” you think Ford has for supercars. They build one car that turns the heads of the crowds who can afford half-million dollar cars every decade and suddenly they should preserve the integrity of that? There’s far more equity for Ford if people are able to see the cars, and then buy them when they’re available. If Porsche is saying the 911R owners should suck a dick because the cars are meant to be driven, there is a 0.0000% chance Ford is saying “we’re artificially restricting our supply of desireable cars to inflate secondhand prices.”

Increase the value of the brand, increase the perceived value of the cars, increase the amount people spend. That’s how you survive as an automaker.

It’d be good to see it driven against other supercars by the same driver.

Goodwood is all about the driver, that saw Euro series NASCAR’s beating the Le Mans Winning GTE Pro Aston up the hill in the shootout, they were the hen beaten by a Polish GT3 car. Top honours eventually went to a Group C Jag.

The final shootout is worth a watch. No GT sadly, but there is plenty of prewar and modern metal going for top honours

Ford can make a lot more money selling twice as many GT’s vs marking up a smaller run by $100k. Ford literally doesn’t have a brand for “collectible” sports cars outside the GT, so restricting supply on that to reward owners and increase brand value is pointless, because there is no brand for the value to increase for. That’s a lot different than Porsche or Ferrari or exotic brands, where people can walk in the dealership the next day and buy a car where the resale and brand value plays an actual role in purchasing.

Needed a twin turbo aluminum block Raptor motor. Yes I’m right.

Pathetic buyers. Seriously sorry. Entranced by the shape and media. At the end of the day, it’s a series of bad decisions like the 220. Except the 220 was much better performing in its day.
